Abstract
This paper examines the Earthquake Preparedness Level of Sipocot Camarines Sur. It was conducted as a response tool to support the Sipocot Earthquake Contingency Plan of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) based on the 7.2 Magnitude movement of the Intensity VIII ground shaking. It aims to institutionalize an effective and efficient earthquake disaster preparedness system and define the roles and responsibilities of MDRRMC and the university in disaster preparedness and assess the level of preparedness and awareness regarding earthquake risk reduction management of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) personnel and the Sipocot residents. The necessary data was collected utilizing survey questionnaires with a 4-point Likert scale and ten questions that adresses the problem of the study. Data analysis revealed no statistically significant differences between the responses gathered from the two groups of respondents. Results strongly indicates that respondents are highly prepared and knowledgeable about the Sipocot earthquake risk reduction management. Training and conferences on disasters, especially earthquakes, must be organized as the study also needs more information dissemination for earthquake preparation while having a concrete Earthquake Masterplan or Earthquake Contingency Plan for the town of Sipocot.
